I was making all sorts of cracks about the saleen when I was there but then they opened the hood on the Z06 and the PDC cover was broken and covered with black duct tape.

Re: Pix from the Dallas Auto Show, for Scott
wasn't really broken.......in order to open the doors of a Corvette, the car must have power....meaning at least battery power.
The fire marshalls in all convention halls require that we tape over the gas filler...no more than 1/8th of a tank of gas......and DISCONNECT the battery. Therefore, we power the vehicle up by putting an 'inverter' on the car....which takes up a lot of room underneath and the cables must come up thru the engine compartment and attach to the cables.....they must also be taped off with electrical tape for safety reasons. That also means we have to remove many fuses and circuit breakers -- so that someone cannot start the car -- turn on the windshield wipers -- blow the horn -- blast the radio -- and the like...........thus, the underhood has several components 'taped' off.
Ahh.....showbusiness!
As to the tape on the Saleen -- I'd remove a vehicle from the floor before I allowed the public to see something like that.....and I'm sure that someone at Ford would be very upset had they known the car was being shown with tape holding an exterior component in place..........
