I just rebuilt my L98 350 and found a new 700R4 for my 89 Camaro. I've got a Holley Street Dominator manifold on top (squarebore) and am looking to buy a new 600CFM Edelbrock for the simplicity and reliablilty.

My question is: which corrector lever and throttle cable/TV cable bracket do I need? I looked up the parts on Summit and they look about right, but I'd feel better asking someone who has a similar setup what they have. Right now, I'm looking at EDL-8036 and SUM-700203. Will these work for me?

 

I'm still in the process of converting from TPI to carb. One place ive been putting a lot of thought into trying is bowtieoverdrives.com. Little more expensive than summits but i like the design more.

 

Not a fan of the way the edelbrock carbs perform. I just bought a Holley 750 DP to replace my old Q-jet. A Holley 650 vac. secondary carb would be pretty good for your application.

I already have a Holley 650 VS, but I need a spreadbore to squarebore adapter to use it. Had I done my research before I bought an intake, I wouldn't have this problem. I realize it's not a problem to get an adapter plate, but I'm not very confident with tuning a carb, so I'd rather just get one that's good to go out of the box and doesn't need adjusting frequently like Holleys apparently do.

I know someone on this board must have a similar combo on their car. Edelbrock carb with 700R4 behind an SBC. What did you have to do to make the 700 shift properly? i.e. bracketry and/or geometry corrector?

 

I don't know what you mean by that. Both the Holley and Edelbrock are squarebore.
Holley's don't need frequent adjusting.

 

Not to mention the Edelbrock will need some tuning out of the box too. It will be close, but so would a Holley. No carb will be perfect out of the box.

All I wanted to know was which bracket and/or geometry corrector to use with the 700 and Edelbrock 600 cfm squarebore. I don't really care what anyone else's opinion on either Holley or Edelbrock carbs is.

 

They will work,I like that summit brand one better.
