Lutz Interview - 5th Gen

Here's an interview podcast that lutz gave concerning the 5th gen concept....States base price as close to $20,000 as possible. Top V8 just over $30,000 starting price. Very informal...

On Camaro enthusiasts "They've been hounding us for years"

Enjoy!!

Here's a video of the LA concept...some great angles in there. Who ever was holding the camera certainly liked it!

I'm really hoping for a V8 offering in the $25k-$28k range. That would put it on par with the Mustang GT, and right in the price range I'll be looking at in 2009.

He also says that the interior will remain the same, minus the billet aluminum accent pieces, which is perfectly okay because that leaves a lot of room for the aftermarket specialists.

Another great place for the aftermarket to get into will be the front grille.

There seems to be a *LOT* of room under that hood. I can see supercharger and turbo setups being stuffed under there quite easily - as opposed to the 3rd and 4th gen which were so cramped it was darned near impossible to change a spark plug.

And with that nice big grille, I can see numerous possibilities for Cold Air Intake designs.

God I hope and pray that GM doesn't screw this one up - which includes getting it to market too late and over pricing it. And once it does get to market, we have a potential bigger worry - that being the crooked dealerships and their outrageous markups. We are still seeing $15k markups on the GTO and Solstice, for crying out loud. $30k markups for the Z06. B@stards !!!!

About 3 new magazines entered the racks upon the entrance of the 2005 Mustang. I could see the same thing happening with the Camaro, which would be a good thing.

Can you imagine what its going to be like when the 5th gen goes on sale? We are going to be our own biggest enemy because everyone heres going to be on a waiting list. Its not like the people on this site who will have been waiting for 7 years are going to wait a minute longer then they have to.

Some interesting points.

If that is true about the top V8 being around ~30K, I really don't see the LS7 making it to this car. I hope I'm wrong though!

But that car is pure sex..

It's interesting that when he talks about the interior he say's the gauge package will likley remain the same including the console gauges. I hope the console gauges make it to production I'm sure as a option.

Man that reporter guy was pretty pushy/rude. Beautiful car, I'm really feelin the gauges and the wheels. I would hope for a combo with front/rears differing by 1inch. When this thing comes out I'm gettin fully loaded :-D
