Things we (fortunately) won't be hearing any more.

Since Dave letterman and I share the same birthday (separated by something like a few dozen years) I felt like stealing his "10 Best" for a specific purpose I've been itching to do for many, MANY months.

Not picking on anyone, just picking out the assorted things that have shown up here.

Top 10 things we shouldn't be hearing any more on this site.... (not including "The Forum".. :

Number 10
"It's going to be way too retro"

Number 9
"It's not going to come out till 2010... if then!"

Number 8
"It's going to look like the second gen".

Number 7
"It's going to look like the SS concept"

Number 6:
"GM still isn't sure what platform they're going to use!"

Number 5:
"The Camaro is going to be tooooo big!"

Number 4:
"I'm never going to buy a Camaro unless they........"

Number 3:
"I'm never buying a GM product unless they......."

Number 2:
"Sales figures don't matter! Camaro is going to continue to be what the 4th gen was... (or words to that effect)... because Camaro enthusiasts (meaning the person doing the writing) will demand it (though the rest of the car buying public doesn't), and if they don't listen to us (meaning the person doing the writing) I'm going to.... (sit in the corner and hold their breath till I pass out)".

And finally........Number 1:
"Camaro's not coming back..... get over it!"

Bonus:
Automobile Magazine a couple of issues ago stated that the Camaro name was dead and buried. Might have another "Dewey defetes Turman" article there.

Ha. Too bad "Z28 is the top Camaro" or "SS is the top Camaro" isn't on there.

That debate will never end.....until my Z drops the SS

But yes, at least we can eliminate those ten things....though I'm just waiting for someone that lives under a rock to tell us, once again, they have inside sources and that the Camaro is dead....just you wait.

It is true

It's still too early to answer most of those questions until the production model is released but at least you can say that "the Camaro is never comming back, get over it" people were wrong.

Motor Trend insisted in its latest issue that the V8 rwd car GM was revealing would be a Pontiac sedan. On a general note, do any real reporting in that magazine, or just make stuff up? I'm starting to get the impression that MT is the National Enquirer of the auto press.

Back on topic, my computer managed to take a crap on me the day the pictures came out. Imagine that, I've religiously checked this and other sites on basically a daily basis for about a year. The one day my computer fails, we get the biggest car story of the past five years. Well, at least the car is worth the wait. Can't wait to see pictures of the completed car.

BTW, I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere already, but is the main shot we're looking at actually two slightly different models spliced together?

Its has been discussed everywhere, but since you asked nicely...

The picture we are looking at are of a clay model...

These are very expensive to make so GM will usually design slightly different styles on both the driver and passenger side then use large mirrors to get a full around veiw of each one.

Saves money and you get to see more than one look.

Did that make sense?

While the smoothly curvaceous Challenger looked like it was simply reissued, though in a somewhat more modern size because of its Chrysler LX underpinnings, the Camaro concept had a more contemporary and angular appearance that looked cutting edge, and we mean that both literally and figuratively.
