Show of hands for Detroit event
I got a pick-me-up today when my tickets and room stuff hit my "desk".
I'll be coming in from Florida as that's where I'll be in January. I'm fired up and looking forward to seeing folks at such a VERY COOL place as the Heritage Center, and seeing the car we all want to see the next day.
The Heritage Center is quite a deal, and I'll wait for the reaction from those that didn't realize what it is, once they see it. Getting in on press day at Cobo Hall is also no small feat, in an of itself. Ask some of the press...
I don't want anyone that feels like saying howdy to the ol' 1fastdog to hesitate on the urge. I can be interesting on a case by case basis. Why Scott puts up with me is still a mystery Clearly a minor flaw for such a major gentleman, but one must wonder... Expect to see me in the afternoon at the hotel on Sunday.
I'm bringing some stories, an upbeat attitude, and a boat load of enthusiasm.
That's my plan!
Who's gassed up with high octane spirit? Who's dialled in and ready to celebrate what really makes the Heartbeat of America? It's enthusiast community!
Please...a show of hands is requested.

Re: Show of hands for Detroit event
40 days 'til January 14th, baby!!! Is this ever like Christmas or what?!?!
I think the last ~week beforehand will be the hardest to get through .
What's REALLY gonna be tough though, looking long-term, is the wait from January until cars roll off the production line in what, ~2008?
But yeah, Detroit is gonna be awesome .

Re: Show of hands for Detroit event
No tickets have arrived for me yet, but I'll be there Hotel reservations and flight arrangements have been made...I'll be hitting Detroit Metro at 11:15 PM on Sat night The price I pay for my friend and I to be able to work that Saturday...
It'll be worth it though

Re: Show of hands for Detroit event
Or better yet...11:15 PM??? Not expecting any takes on that one, unfortunately. We were gonna get a rental, but Enterprise closes by 10 PM on Saturday, and the other rental companies want between 150 and 220 for the 3 days...Enterprise was only $80!!!
Its going to be a long taxi cab ride from the airport to the hotel...supposedly its about 35 miles, according to the Embassy Suites help desk

Re: Show of hands for Detroit event
I will be there, but I wasn't invited with all the important people to the private event. Soooo, I'm hoping to get there as soon as I can after it opens to the public. Is anyone getting together during the public week?

Re: Show of hands for Detroit event
Will be there early afternoon on Saturday. No tickets yet, not sure if you're refering to airline, or show or what. Working out the flying myself, so no worries there, and already have hotel confirmation. For those that really want to live it up, a limo from DTW to the hotel is only $15 more than a cab ($60 I think it was?). We're not going to drive while we're there, so it actually works out cheaper than any rental car we could find.

Now that I know I'll be in Cincinnati for the next 8 months, I'll probably be going too as a normal spectator. RP, is anything going on for everyone, or should we look at setting something up?

I'll be going on the 14th, and attending 2 days...finalizing hotel reserv's this week. Probably be wearing my black leather Budwiser coat with red & white graphics, and a #8 on it.
