Where to find a rear end for a 96 Z71

I know it is not an F-body, but I cant find a forum like this for Chevy or GMC trucks.

I need a good complete rear with 3.73 gears for a 96 Z71 pickup. Before anyone asks a silly question, YES it is a 4x4. And if you are wondering why I mention that it is because everyone I have called has asked.

OR I need a rebuilder. Mine is making noise. Not terrible yet, but pretty annoying.

Anyone do bodywork and painting on the side? I want to get it painted too.

Thanks in advance
John

Are you looking for something new or would you consider a salvage/junkyard rear? Cause you could probably find what you're looking for at one of the junkyards out towards Bithlo.

As far as a rebuilder, that's a skill that I hear is very rare. I would call Advanced Driveline, I have heard they do good work. I'm not sure about price though.

I have allready checked all the Central Florida salvage yards. Apparently these are pretty rare and the ones that have them want $1000 for a unit with over 100k on it. Sorry, but I will get it rebuilt for that, with new parts.

Thanks for the reply though. I will keep searching.

Hey, guy in Debary built my GTA's rear. I used Richmond gears, and they whine a little bit, but I think Richmond 3.73's do that, so... But the setup was good. www.midnightextremecustoms.com I need to get some SFC's for both my F-bodies and get him to weld them....

Now I need a transmission. The rear housing cracked today on the way back from Jacksonville.

You up for a tranny swap up here in Deland? Free beer of your choice and pizza?

Hmm....free Bud Light is never a bad thing... I hate the new 4l60e's. They made them so much harder to swap. When we you looking to do it? I should be available for a few hours here or there. Start a new job in Port Orange tuesday, but it is 9ish to 5ish Mon thru Fri....

Well the Keg is full of Miller light, but Bud Light is only a liquor store away.

We pulled it out last week and dropped it off at the tranny shop to swap out the broken case. The tranny worked fine, so they are replacing the case for $400. I am going to find out today(hopefully) when it will be done. Apparently the 4x4 cases are hard to find. Lucky me.

Would love a knowlegeable extra hand. I have a buddy helping, but the fact is that he is not exactly car savy. If you could help, or anyone, it would be hugely appreciated.
