s-trim blower whine?
s-trim blower whine?
at a car show this weekend a 93 cobra drive by and it had a vortech sticker on it. ne never stopped to park the car so didn't get to ask what he had done with the car. his blower was loud and sounded good. now my 94 z28 has a s-trim on it and bunch of other engine mods and mine just makes a whistle sound just like it did with my 52mm TB and homemaide cold air kit with 4inch pipe. what gives? did he maybe have a bigger blower then me? my car is way louder then his since i have straight exhaust, but blower is quite...
Re: s-trim blower whine?
Jeff - got my SC installed and car running on Sat night - I can't even hear the SQ trim.
My buddies with 'stangs and SC - they're all louder than my car by far. Not sure what the difference is.

Re: s-trim blower whine?
Yo -Aaron. min just makes a loud whistle sound. when you rev it up it gets louder. but driving down the street i couldn;t tell if i heard the blower or the BOV making noise with the air. this mustang sounded good... very notcie just at a 10mph drift going by.
Re: s-trim blower whine?
i have the V1 SQ , but it used so have no clue how old it is. but you sound like you know exactly what i was talking bout. i mean mine whistles but if you have no clue what i have under my hood or what the whistle is then you would never think i have a blower until the BOV makes noise. do procharger or paxton make noise?
Re: s-trim blower whine?
I like my older generation S-Trim's whine.
My understanding is that if the older S-Trims are sent in to Vortech to be rebuilt, they are rebuilt with SQ parts.
So guess what? Mine's not getting rebuilt unless absolutely necessary.

Re: s-trim blower whine?
yeah my V-1 S-trim is really loud. It has a definite whine at all rpms, old ladies look at my car like it is falling apart
pm me your email address if you want to see a vid of my car idling through Sonic if you want to compare the noises

There are a LOT of variables with regard to the blower whine.
- What cam are you running? Stock or aftermarket? Lots of lift, duration, LSA? Cam does indeed change the sound.
- What pulley you running? Pulley size does change the sound.
- Is there a powerpipe that you run for your vortech? If so, that changes the sound as well.
- Someone already mentioned the V-1 "S" vs. SQ = super quiet? LOL.
- Exhaust is a big factor. Does your car have "true" duals or is it still single exhaust? Remember the Mustang is a true dual exhaust setup so that does play a factor in "sound".
I'm told that you can hear my blower (V-1 "S") trim from about a block away. Doesn't matter to me too much these days and I'm used to the sound and the car isn't too much of a sleeper these days anyway (sumped tank, welds, etc).
Enjoy being blown!!!!

Tim
