Thumbs up Re: Lloyd Elliott heads set up for supercharging

Not too shabby!

Not to change the subject, but you are the first non-4th gen f-body centrif. supercharged guy I came across today...so here goes: how did you mount your blower? Did you use an existing kit {like an f body or 'Vette} or didja fab yer own? Do you have any on-line picts of your car/engine? I'm going to be tackling a similar project in the future and wanna get all my ducks in a row.

Thanx!

Re: Lloyd Elliott heads set up for supercharging

I was using an LT1 F-body Vortech kit.

I had to modify the crossmember slightly for the blower to fit.

I also had to cut a bolt that holds the upper control arm to the subframe. Of course, I only cut the portion of bolt protruding through the nut. Even with it cut off as short as it can be cut, the blower still contacts this portion of the driverside upper control arm slightly as the motor moves from left to right under acceleration and deceleration. Maybe some solid motor mounts, or even just a solid link to the motor from the frame would eliminate this.

Another huge problem is that the inlet of the blower is blocked by the crossmember. My only easy option was to add a small air cleaner directly to the inlet of the blower (right under the header ). To run some plumbing , it would take some fabrication to either the crossmember, or to a piece of tubing to allow it to fit up to the blower.

I just decided to get a counter-clockwise S-trim, and to mount it up higher, facing the oposite direction.

I'll get some pics of the mock up as soon as I can.

You may want to look into LT1 accessories from a Corvette. The alt, PS, etc... get mounted to the driver side of the motor and up high. The blower is mounted up high on the right side of the engine and is a reverse rotation type.

Re: Lloyd Elliott heads set up for supercharging

what size valves in there?

I would have thought there would be more work on the exhuast though. 1.625" valves would definetly help that S/C out.

i got 284/237 @ .600" out of old gm 441's with 2.05/1.60's. Homeport job. The guy that flowed them said they were good for up to 580 hp n/a. I was proud.

The valves are 2.00 1.56. I couldn't go bigger without bigger valve seats. The difference is in the valve job, and the port work.
