All 2006+ GM vehicles to get a small silver GM badge???
Anyone heard of this?
What do you guys make of this? Seems harmless, but i don't really see the need. I think most consumers know what brands are GM.

In what we could only guess is a move by an ever-flustered GM, today they announce that all recently-introduced and all-new 2006-model vehicles produced and sold in North America will get a small silver GM badge starting this month. It will be placed on both sides of the vehicle in an appropriate location between the front and rear wheels. And yes, Saab is included. GM calls it a “move to link General Motors and its vehicle brands more closely”. We call it something to dirty up the side of a very pretty Solstice and Sky. Gentlemen, get your heat guns ready.

I don't really see any advatage to this. I would think it would be better to try and make brand more distinct instead of blending them together. I'm glad GM got rid of the GM keys and now used keys with the brand logo on it.

I read this earlier today on another board...
I think it is incredibly tacky.
It's like Chrysler Corp of the late 80's and early 90's tacking the 5-pointed star logo on all their brands somewhere on the car, whether it be a Chysler, Dodge, Plymouth, Jeep or Eagle...
What a great model to follow. :blah:

Just a thought: Perhaps they are going to scrap divisions, and sell everything as GM. Its an easy way to streamline. Like I said, just a random thought.

Sounds good, but rediculously expensive though.

this will be a huge catastrophy imo
think of saab AND saturn which most people don't know as a part of gm
i think putting gm on it will only make people want the car LESS as gm seems to have a bad stigma attached to it anyways

This is like going around with the tag hanging out the back of your shirt. Talk about an annoying...
So in case you forgot, your new Corvette was made by Hanes.

[mild sarcasm] So this is GM's implementation of the common theme to be carried across all new vehicle lines that they announced recently. Radical! [\mild sarcasm].
Seems kinda tacky to me too.

GM needs all its decision makers to go on a vacation for a week. Everyone (honestly would it be that much worse if none of them were there?). Hopefully after they all calmed down a little they could come back with clear minds and stuff like this wouldnt happen again.

These are from the link darth posted. Looking at this one on a c6, it not only looks a bit tacky but it looks out of place.

Another pic, but from a distance. Badge is pretty small, but pretty visible and noticble on the otherwise clean body.

This just really burns me for some reason.
I mean, in these days where manufacturers are trying to shave pennies off the cost of vehicles, they go and literally tack-on a badge that no one wants.
Put the money to better use.
