Can I fill up the tranny where the shifter bolts up to?

Can I fill up the tranny where the shifter bolts up to?

Since I'm doing a T56 conversion and I have no center consol in and the shifters off could I just pour the tranny fluid into that area the shifter bolts up to? It would be alot easier than using a pump and pumping it into the tranny through the fill hole.

Why yes you can, open the regular fill plug to control the level of course.
