1966 mustang vs. my 95 z28?

I have a friend who just got a 1966 mustang with a 289 in it. It's got a four speed and I think the motor is built a little. Any way I have a 95 M6 w/ a flowmaster and k&n cai. Who's gonna win???

all depends on "how built" his motor is, if anything near stock, not even debatable...

Lightbulb 289 stock = not a lot there.

Example - many moons ago, in a stock ' 79 T/A w/ 2.73 gears and an auto tranny, I took out an old body style Stang stop to ~ 50 MPH.

Second gen T/A's were 15 - 16 second cars.

Built up 289 ?

Depends on how built.

I'd think your car will do just fine.

Re: 1966 mustang vs. my 95 z28?

My car in the sig. against my gf's dad's 66' 289 4spd. His car sounds so mean, he gets rubber through every single gear all the way into 4th. Sounds aweful nice as I'm flying by him everytime. He runs back to back 13.9-14.0's all night long. I believe his is setup with the 301hp package of some style of stang from that era,but don't quote me on that. Either way he's faster than an equivilent stocker and is basically neck and neck with a stock LT1. So you should have little trouble if you hook well and can drive at all. It'll be a fun race though.
