nhrapro402 Bad Seller

On April 23, 2004 I sent a certified check to nhrapro402 for $110.00 for a LT4 Hot Cam. He has never sent the cam. I emailed him on 5-10-04 and asked him for the tracking number so I could check on the cam. He replied and asked for my address as he had not sent it yet. I told him to send me my cam or my money. He apoligised and said he would send my money tommorow (5-11-04) and he has not. I have sent him several emails and have not heard from him. He is a liar and a thief. Do not buy anything from him

I did a search on that name and came up with nothing. Do you know his name on this board?

That sucks.

I was going to say the same thing. Here is a link to his last post, which just happens to be the post where you bought the cam.

Follow the money. Where did you send the check? Did you send it certified and was it signed for? Follow up on this & get your $ back or what you paid for!

The following info was from some of his posts:
Phone: 817-371-7051 (shows as AT&T cell phone)
Location: Fort Worth, Texas

Have you called him? Best case scenario is his email or computer is down, but he should have contacted you by now by other means if that was the case.

Well I fixed the name. Thanks for noticing. I have his work number and address. I can call him but I guess he is out of town because it is his direct line and only get a machine. He is probably buying drinks with little unbrellas with my money.

You know it is a trust thing for me. I have been dealing with ebay for about three years and have had great results. I have bought from people here and either use PayPal or send a certified check. Never any problems till nhrapro402. It is just $110.00 but it is the principle of it. The money will not make or break me. But I want it back. I am going to send a letter to the owner of the dealership he works at as the Fleet Manager and see what happens. I may not get my money but it may hurt him in the long run.

Are money orders any good? Or do you have a better chance with checks/paypal?

Safest payment & advice

There is no absolute foolproof method- but usually, checking with others that have bought or sold to/from the person is a good start. I'm hesitant to buy from anyone that is new here. It seems like a lot of the problems are from new members or just not using common sense, i.e. sending something before you're paid.

Paypal seems to be the best thing going right now, you can buy insurance for most transactions in case there is a problem.

Hoppy,
Here is my .02 for what you should do-

1. Contact the cops in his city/county. Most PDs have an email link and you can do this for free. Summarize what has happened like you did here (on <date>, I paid <name-address> <amount> by check for <item> and he did not deliver the item, but cashed my check on <date>. I have since communicated with him and he has admitted receiving the money. I want to file a theft complaint and need information on how to do so.) There is also a US Post Office angle here if you mailed the check via the Post Office. You can contact your local Postal Inspector for help.

2. Find someone on this board that may live near him or know him (there are a lot of people from Texas here) that can contact him locally & see what the problem is.

The above will usually put enough pressure on him to deliver the cam or refund your money.

Worst case is you would have to sue him, it can be done, but costs more $ up front. If you know where he works you can end up getting a garnishment on his income so he is working for you until you are repaid what you are owed plus your costs.
