My Z vs. '04 modded WRX?

i have a buddy with a '04 WRX, he's kind of a dumbass, he didnt change the oil for the first 5k miles, and other stupid ****. When he had just a boost controller i would beat him pretty good. I think that pissed him off becuase it was brand new

Well he just got his car back from the dealer and they put in a new tranny, clutch, and maf. Then he added a down pipe, exhuast, and intake. He's been talking a lota smack how he's been smoking a bunch of Lightning's etc., and wants a rematch agaisnt me. Were going to do a 1rst gear roll, 2nd gear roll, and a stop. i think he'll beat me but what do you think?

'04 WRX - boost controller, intake, down pipe, & exhuast
'93 Z28 A4- mods & times in sig.

race is supposed to happen this weekend.

If you race him from any kind of roll I don't believe he will even be a challenge for you. Watch out from a stop though, don't expect to out launch him so if he beats you off the line just keep going you will start reeling him in. I believe from a stop it will be really close though.

good luck bro and post up the results.

Why don't you get a few more mods going?

underdrive pulleys
TB mod
stall converter
rear 3.73 gears
HPP and 160 therm
trans go shift kit
maybe some drag radials

and remove as much weight out of the car you can !
spare tire and jack, sub box (if you have 1), junk, tools, girlfriend ( )
and then if you have time....i would remove the carpet padding.

He's not going to be slow, assuming that he can drive.

With those mods, he probably gained about 30-40 hp. I would guess he's trapping around 98 mph, which isn't too bad. You will probably still take him from a roll pretty good.

Watch out from a stop. If he's willing to abuse his tranny, he can get a good head start. They will pull 1.7 60' times if launched hard on the street.

With a deal like that i would just put your money into it instead of paying like 10 thousand dollars more for an LS1. 3.73's, 2400 stall, headers, cam and you'll be pretty fast.

my friends wrx had alot more done to it than that and i used to outrun him on a daily basis. you shouldn't have a problem until he puts a bugger turbo on thier and a huge clutch then thier is absolutly no catching him from a stop until he tops his car out. from a roll you will still have him

I'd be careful of the WRX's. They take to mods very well. I bought my wife one as a grocery getter and I know that putting a VF34 turbo, 550 cc injectors, catless uppipe and downpipe, tuning and a good exhaust, and you will get schooled bad by one.

stock i dyno'd 255 RWHP and 290 RWTQ then i did the cut out and cold air, and the #'s are in my sig.

I finally got the races in against the WRX. from a 45 roll we were even until i hit about 70 were i put him about 1 car from my bumper by 105. did a stop i spun hard and he got a big jump but i still went by him pretty fast by 90. so yay i won!
