17x10 in the rear and 17x8 in front?

Is this a good idea? I don't want the front tires to be the same size as the rears due to the issue of rotational inertia. I also want to have tires that will balancce out handling with grip for drags. What tire should I go with and is 10 inches the widest I can go on my 97 camaro 'vert?

you can go an 11 on the rear. and a 10 on the front but that might depend on what wheel. i have yokohama AVS sports and im pretty happy with the traction they have.

I was told the offset was different on the 'verts and that you couldn't have an 11 inch wide wheel on the back.

btw, I was going for like 8.5inches wide on the front.
