How to Fix Bent Wheel Lip

Its not an F-Body, but hey, a bent wheel is a bent wheel.
Well I ran over a pothole and I hit pretty hard. When I got home to check it out I was like

S@!%

D%#@

F!%&

Only the lip is bent, Im not losing any tire pressure.
What would be the best way to get that bent back into shape?
Being in the Bahamas, I dont have any pep boys or autozones (not sure if I have a place here that would be able to fix it.)

I know you won't like hearing this but, I don't think you'll be able to fix that yourself.

There are a some places that specialize in fixing bent rims online.
You'll have to send it away though..........

My ten spokes were like that. I dismounted the wheel and just got a soft mallet hammer and just started hitting it lightly till it went back in shape. It takes a while, but if you start going crazy you are going to chip the paint. Could possibly work. On mine it did.

When u say it takes a while, how long is a while? I was banging on it with my 32oz rubber mallet for like an hour and it hasnt budged.

Anymore suggestions?

i bent the chrome rim on my caddy once... decided to take a hammer (real hammer) and beat the crap outta the bent lip. did so in a towards me motion and the lip went back into place....

the chrome cracked on the last hit and i just put some clean nail polish over the crack and its fine.....

the rim held air after the bend... and still holds air now!!

Use a dead blow hammer and beat on it till fixed

i had a tricked out lowered toyota pick up one time that i had put 17 inch Centerline billet wheels on, hit a pothole one day and bent the lip of one of the wheels so bad.
i just took the wheel off and layed a folded up towel across the bend and smacked it a few times with a 2 pound sledge, could never notice it after that.
kinda felt like a caveman.........uh, me hit it with hamma.......LOL !

Its easy fix....Just find piece of hard wood shaped like hammer (any piece of wood with sharp ending). Then just take the regular hammer, put the wooden block on the wheel and hit it with the hammer as hard as you can. It will bend back in a second...Juts watch out for your hands and the wheel...

Well the car is sold now, but with the original wheels. So I still have the aftermarket wheels with that bent one sitting at home in the garage in Florida. I might try again if I get the chance when down there.

I had a bent lip just like that on my aluminum wheels. I tried pounding on it with a wood block and by hitting that with a hammer but got scared away from doing it cuz it seemed to mess with the polished finish. I finally took them to wheels america or fixrim.com and they fixed it no problem. only thing that I was disappointed with was that they didn't get some scratched grooves out of my wheel.

Here in Hawaii there were a few weeks where it was pouring rain constantly. Inevitably, hundreds of DEEP potholes were created on the roads, and MANY people got bent rims (even stock wheels), on their cars. It was on the news, and they said that you could file a report to the city and county. I know of one guy here that got his wheel professionally repaired, and paid for by the city and county. Well....sorry to hear the bad news.....and good luck.

Here in NYC you can only dream about it...You can do it, but it will take 4 years to see any results..
