C5 Vette calipers direct bolt on to an f-body?
I know you can't use the C5 rotors without using the relacation brackets. However I like the look of the red Z06 Calipers and was told that those would bolt right on and I would be able to use them with my stock f-body rotors. This true?

Are the Vette brakes really that much of an upgrade to be worth that? I dunno if I'd go with those or just a whole aftermarket setup. Anyone ever done this swap and wanna chime in?

Compared to normal LT-1 front brakes the C5 brakes are a HUGE improvement. The rotors are a full 2" larger in diameter.

c5 calipers are roughly equivalent to LS1 fbody calipers. slightly more rigid. the main benefit to switching over to c5 stuff from LS1 fbody stuff is the larger rotor.
its almost an inch bigger in diameter and that gives the caliper more leverage when applying braking force. and since rotor is bigger, it dissipates heat much better. the bracket to mount the larger rotors is out of production, but in this thread, they are trying to get enough interest so they can make one last production run:

The caliper is also pressure cast instead of gravity cast therefore giving it better rigidity and less flexing which means better braking.

In addition to the larger diameter for increased mechanical advantage and greater mass for increased heat sinking, the C5 rotors are also directionally vaned (F-body rotors aren’t). This increases pumping efficiency so more air is forced through the rotors to dissipate more heat, more quickly.
The C5 calipers also have full width bridge reinforcement (stiffening ribs). This, along with the pressure casting, increases the initial stiffness, AND the long term fatigue resistance of the caliper, especially in a high-heat competition context. This means less caliper spread (deflection), which reduces pad taper, and provides a firmer pedal. The C5 caliper also uses smaller diameter pistons than the LS1, which provides an even firmer pedal.

I did the C5 Brake conversion. I got my brackets from Chris (unknown last name) and Bob Bishop. I don't recall the bracket price but I got all the GM stuf from Jason and saved a little cash. Im local to Jason so I didn't have to pay shipping.
I like the brakes but I must say tracking all the braided lines was a pain in the butt. C5 up front and LT1 in the back. Different types of flares and such on the lines and fittings. The rubbe lines would have been the fastest way to go but I wanted to replace them all with Steel.
