I don't know how you guys plan on handling the whole avatar deal, but there was a site I was on not too long ago that (1) limited the size of avatars to 100x100 pixels and (2) all avatars had to be approved by admin before anyone was allowed to use them. Now I know this is probably makes for a ton of extra work, but it just seemed like a good idea to me.
