Question Service engine light is driving me crazy!

The service engine light keeps coming on in my '97 Trans Am. The first time it came on, I was really low on gas. So I figured it was a fuel issue. I filled up & a few days later, it went out. A day after that, it went back on again. So I switched gasolines.
Again it went out temporarily, but went on again.
The car seems to be running fine. I've been using the same gasoline for 2-3 weeks now, but it's still on.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks,
Jennifer

You will have to pull the codes. Your car is OBDII, so there are no shortcuts. You will need either an OBDII code reader or OBDII scan tool. Of course you can always go to Autozone and have the code pulled.

this is just a thought but i'll throw it up here. I know if you don't turn the gas cap till it clicks it will throw a code. I know a couple people that took there cars and trucks to the dealership cause of this. Hopefully its something easy as this. Good luck

the gas experience could be a coinsidence w/ the SES light. when there is a "sometime" problem w/ the car the SES will come on. If the problem does not appear for 3 starting/ shutdowns cycles of the engine, the SES light goes out. When the problem appears again, it comes on. If you have Autozone stores in your area, they will do a free code read for you.
