Cylinder Volume with Tunercat...
Im using TunerCat to program my car and need to know what to set the cyl. fill to for a 383? Its at 717ml/cyl right now for a 350...What will I need to change it to for my 383? Also is there anything else that needs to be changed right now when the stroker goes in?
I was runnin Heads/cam on my 350 with timing advance around 36 at 100kpa and was wondering if theres anything else I would need to change..Im sure I will have to change the VE tables but Ill get the car running first..Anyone think of anything else I need to change?
Thanks for the help..

The Volume of a 350 cylinder is 716.1 cc. Set the volume of your 383 to 784.52762 or round off to 784.5. The formula is (r2 × pi) × length for cubic inches swept volume, which for a 383 is 47.875. To convert to cc's multiply 47.875 x 16.387 equals 784.52762. Hope this helps

Thanks bud...Anything else I need to change for the 383? Im thinkin it would be ok to start it up with just changing the cyl volume and just go from there?

I'm running the set-up in my sig, Maybe some 383 guys will help out. I would think you will have to change your injector constants too.

I was under the assumption that the VE tables weren't really used in a mass air car because the MAF sensor measures the amount of incoming air rather than having to rely on the VE tables?
Sound right?

I dont "think" you have to mess with the inj. constant going to a larger bore/stroke but I could be wrong...I did adjust it when I put my 30# in though..

Sounds right, huge discussion on the LT1Edit list about this and most of the "informed" members now believe this to be the case. Apparently the VE tables are only necessary if the car has a MAF failure or is forced to run in Speed Density mode.

TunerCat only allows you to move up/down by multiples of 9...I have to use 780 or 789 ml/cyl..Which one should I use??
Also I am assuming %Change to Air/Fuel Ratio vs. RPM at WOT is the same as PE correct?
Thanks
Cody

Also, does anyone actually know what the Cylinder Fill is for? Does it add more fuel,etc...I would like to know what it does by increasing/decreasing the number and what effect it would have on the PCM..

Hey Cody...
Click on "Help -> Calibration Help" in TunerCat. It gives you a decent description of all the different parameters in the current definition file.
You don't need to change the injector constant unless you change the injectors.
Also, if you type in the value for cylinder volume, it will let you set it at 785. It only increments by 9 if you are using the slider.
As for the %change & PE, yes, they are the same. Here is TC's description:
Quote:
WOT % Change To Fuel/Air Ratio Vs. RPM
This table is the percent change to Fuel/Air Ratio used at or near wide-open throttle (WOT) versus RPM. The values from this table and the WOT % Change To Fuel/Air Ratio Vs. Coolant Temp are summed to arrive at the WOT Air Fuel ratio.
The resulting air / fuel ratio can be calculated as follows:
WOT AFR = 14.7 / (1 + %Change vs Cool/100 + %Change vs RPM/100)
For the selected RPM, suppose the percent change to Fuel/Air Ratio from the RPM table is = - 5.1 and the percent change to Fuel/Air Ratio from the COOLANT table at the selected coolant temperature is = 22.7, then the approximate WOT AFR would be:
14.7 / (1 -0.051+.227) = 12.5:1 AFR

Also, read Chris Bennight's page...it has some good info:

First I need to tear into it so it NEEDS to be reprogrammed. How about you just have them drop that stroker off at my place?

If he's like me, he's ready for them to drop it off just about anywhere, just get done with it...lol
About the VE tables..if they arent used, then why were people reporting good results using VE Master. Not trying to be smart, just wanting to know.
Cody, have you figured out how to rescale the MAF with tunercat. I found this MAF program on jz97ss's page but not sure exactly how it works. I'm wondering if i can convert my file to .lt1, change the MAF scale, then convert back to .bin. Maybe I should ask him..lol.

why do you need to rescale your MAF?
i have been tweaking mine the last couple of days in hopes of raising my BLMs back to an acceptable range(125-128). there are 4 MAF tables in tunercat...should be the last 4. my BLMs were down around 115-120 so i simply adjusted the tables to make the PCM not calculate as much air by subracting around .46(i think)gps across the tables and it worked perfectly.
