Remote start repair

The previous owner of my car had a Viper 550HF alarm, which should include remote start, installed on the car. However, when I push the button on the remote to start it, I can hear the stereo come on inside the car, then the fuel pump comes on, and then nothing else happens. Does anybody know if I can check myself if the remote start is hooked up properly? My only guess would be that VATS is not disabled, but it could also just be that the alarm was never hooked up to the starter. I would take it to Best Buy or someplace similar, but they all want $90 just to check it out.

If anybody has the install instructions for that alarm or can help another way, I would greatly appreciate it!

there should be 2 really light gauge wires under the dash around the steering column i belive one would be cut and the other would just be spliced into, but you should be able to recognize which ones because there should be a resistor matching the value of your key in line with it unless they purchased the module that contains all 13 values and has a switch to choose the value, if you dont see those 2 wires, bypass module(or the resistor) installed there, then they more than likely didnt bypass the vats system.
