Yea, mufflers are required on all street cars. Even cars running in Modified Eliminator need mufflers.
Here is the rule as taken from the racer handbook:
Mufflers: All Street Night (Wednesday and Friday) competitors must use mufflers. Open headers or exhaust are not allowed on Street Nights. All Street Eliminator competitors must use mufflers. Open headers or exhaust are not allowed. All Modified Eliminator entries must use mufflers. Collector inserts or insert cones are not allowed. Open headers or exhaust will not be allowed. In general, mufflers must meet the following criteria; A muffler must be produced by a recognized manufacturer who specifically indicates the device was produced as a muffler. These include, but are not limited to, the following manufacturers: Borla, Dynamax, Thrush, and Flowmaster. New England Dragway Officials have the option of rejecting any vehicle that contradicts the spirit of our intent to maintain a "Good Neighbor" policy with the towns of Brentwood and Epping.
More rules may be found at: http://www.newenglanddragway.com/tra...n_racing.shtml
