Mr. Horsepower surfaces in Hot Rod Magazine

Chuck Riddeck (Mr. Horsepower) was quoted in the Feb 2004 issue of Hot Rod, page 13.

"There is always more power locked away...the first 90 percent is easy to find, but that last percentile is extremely difficult to get and requires more R&D than most can afford."

Ain't it the truth!

Mine too...and I don't even know what you're all taking about!

I remember seeing Mindgame post within the past year - no shortage of brains there!

But don't be sad, there are several top notch members around to
keep my mind in tangles

Why did Mindgame and Mr. HP leave the forum?

Chuck is still here, but on only every few months as he is a REEEAL busy guy. Alan left because of a few difrent reasons like not working out with a few people here.

yeah its a shame mindgame left........he always had interesting input on the advanced topics...........but some specific members felt the need to insult him on a personal level rather than just disagree with his viewpoints.

That's too bad that people can't be more mature. God knows I've
been corrected and wrong several times - and there will be many
more I'm sure!

I question everything, but never insult...I tend to learn more that
way.

My favourite saying since playing on car forums (might be my very own):

"Welcome to the Internet were everyone's a mechanic and has a
10 second car".

Hey how about some tech to this thread? What sort of R&D are
we talking about?

NASCAR techs like to port each intake runner at specific volumes
to help equal the delivery of charge to every cylinder.

Beat that!

That stinks. Not your tech advice but the fact those guys are not around.

That always seems to happen. Just wish people could state their opinion and then let the neg responses roll off their back. Let those with a brain learn and the others continue to be slow/uninformed.

I like tech.

Yeah I wish they were still around. Mind game said he would help me with my 18* project but won't return any mail from anyone on this board now

Mindgame did let stuff roll off his back, he just got sick of Trey and all of his antics with him. If it was not for that I'm sure he would be here. He was the antgonist of the group, which is not always a bad thing.

Either way it's always good to have knowledge on here.

BTW Jimlab, what's the news on your motor? Where is it? Is it running yet etc...

If you really knew stuff so well that people would seek out AND PAY FOR your knowlege would you post it on the internet for free?

Me neither.

Fortunately, I'm just a reasonably experienced weekend hack. I will never have that dilema.

That's a really good point. Cam specs for any particular engine come to mind. If you as a customer paid to have your cam designed, it's up to you whether you want to tell everyone its exact specs. Most don't. I wouldn't.

"Free" advice is often worth exactly what you pay for it.

On the other hand, concepts, such as big heads + small cam or stuff like that is good to discuss on forums like this. It gives us various views, both from pros and the rest of us.

My $.02

Maybe the 'problem' with MG, was his demeanor. Apparently, he did not have the wherewithall, to step on someone's gonads, when a particular delinquent individual, so desperately needed it. Can recall, after irritating experience with someone, (face to face, not here) let that someone know, in no uncertain terms, what I thot of him. After that, got along fine. Go figure. Human race is funny. Sometimes, someone, in their own little way, may be begging to be put in their place.
