Post Portland/Vancouver Club

There have been a number of people from this area expressing interest in a local area f-body club. I'm curious as to what kind of club you would prefer.

1. Are you interested in a primarily racing/performance oriented club?

2. Are you interested in a primarily show n' shine, cruisin' and get together type club?

3. Would you prefer the club be limited to f-bodies? If so, how important is this to you (scale 1-10, 10=most important)

4. Other comments/suggestions.

Thanks!

Jeff

1. I would like a performance oriented club in that we show up to races in force, help with mods on the cars etc. But not necessarily as serious as the Seattle thang, where we are worried about points and stuff.

2. Cruises to like multnomah falls and the beach would be fun and maybe a monthy metting get together for beers and pizza.

3. I think I would prefer the F-body crowd but would be open to other options although we seem like we are genuinely excited about our rides note as bragging or status symbols but just the excitment and hertige of our cars Just my observation. I would say exclusive to f-bodys an 6.

4. Anybody wanna buy my car to get in? LOL it going to have a new transission after speaking to the president of Cottman transmission.....well it really wasn't speaking

I found a 2000 TA six speed with t-tops I sure would like to buy

Bass turt! I was looking forward to dissecting your motor!

If events can happen on the weekends then I'm down for any sort of club. I'd like to get in a good amount of track time as part of a club but I'm not interested in joining a club that is solely interested in that. Throw in a good dose of hanging out and BSing and I'm game.

Well I tried calling you but the number had changed and the new one I couldn't get through if you are serious about the parts we can still talk about it. It would be alot of work I think you should buy the whole car for your girlfriend I'd give you a good deal on a 12 second daily driver

If a club got started I would be interested in both aspects but with a slight more bias towards the racing. I would be more interested in it being targeted for camaro's or other car that share the same motor such as Corvette's and Impala's....

I agree with Bob, once a month meetings, and not so serious about things that it becomes a job. F-bodies only or lt1/ls1, that's a good debate. It sounds like the main focus is going to be straight line performance.

Cool

I am all up for a local/regional club!

I think it should basically be limited to F-bodies. be it 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th gen.

I am thinking along the line of Bobby. Maybe we could be an offshoot of Team NW racing but an F-body branch.

But any type of F-body gathering is good for me.

I'm easy, but not a tramp!

There's a local Camaro club in the Portland/Vancouver area......since 1983.

I was a member from 1994-2000.

I heard from one of their members that they have talked about making it an all f-body club due to falling membership.

I agree with Bobby and Ken, f-body's only, somewhat performance based and with monthly meetings, occasional cruises and get togethers.

And I already have a daily driver, Bobby. It's called my honda. Not that I would mind having your car. I still have yet to see it though. And Donny's phone will hopefully be back on today. He can give you another number also for his work phones.

Lightbulb

IF memery servse me the "local" club used to be part of a local Seatltle club? THey both had a stupid fight and took it to court?

This is NOT the kind of club many want to attend to. THAT is one of the many reasons Tean North West F-body came to be..

Our gruop is very diverse and rules are loose. I have worked hard with other people in the gruop to make it this way for many reasons. the biggest reason is fun!

What ever you do make it fun

I have allot going on right now and I am very open to Jeff's idea of a Oregon Team NW F-body contingent

I don't think we've heard from everyone yet, but it's getting close.

Anyhow, what I would like to propose, as Ellis has indicated, is a Portland/Vancouver area division of Team NW F-Body. We can set up our own activities and events like cruises and race days, maybe a Car Club Challenge someday if that's what we want. Whatever we choose to do. I think the biggest focus will be to get together for fun and to help each other out and have some kickin' times at the track, too. We can be as casual or as serious as we want, as individuals or as a group.

Other than abiding by the few rules of the Team and participating as a Team member in whatever capacity you choose (such as the internet mailing list, race events, cruise events, karting days, BBQ's, Team meetings, your choice) there aren't any obligations.

It's a lot of fun belonging to a group with similar interests, and I think the Team has that to offer to all of you. Together I think we can put together a club that rivals some of the larger clubs in the US, something we can't do alone. Imagine a cruise where we are 20+ cars! Cool! I would be happy to act as the area representative since I will definately still be traveling up north to see my friends and compete. Or if you'd rather have someone else, no problem there either. Anyone wanting to cruise along on those trips up north would be more than welcome.

I should add that we wouldn't be alone in this area. Many of the present Team members have expressed interest in coming down here for events and track days. We could make a pretty impressive showing at Woodburn or one of the local autoX's.

I know that some of you may be under the impression that you would be expected or pressured into participating in events up north. That's not the case. Team NW F-Body isn't about points in the Car Club Challenge. We are about fun, and the CCC events are a great way to get together and visit and have some good racing at the same time. It's exciting and fun and that's why I drive my sorry backside up there. It sure wasn't because I'm Mr. Racer with my measly 6 points this year, 4 of which are double points!

I'm not trying to push the Team on anyone, but I am biased. I'm real interested in a local gathering, but in all honesty I don't have the time to spare to do a new (non Team NW) club justice. 2 acres, a fifteen (nearly sixteen) year old son, a mother-in-law living with us, and my wife take a good chunk out of my time and I'm not willing to take time from them. I'd rather not start from scratch. The Team is established, it works and I know we can make it what we want for ourselves.

That said, if you have a better idea for a local club you all feel will fit your needs and desire we've got everyone's attention, so let's hear it.

No matter what,I'm looking forward to hooking up with you all for some fun times.
Thanks for your time and consideration. Let me know if you've got questions.

EDIT: Yearly dues are $10 to cover webspace fees and help with food and beverages for Team gatherings.
