95 GT vs. 96 Z28
Now I don't want to sound like a troll because I used to post here before I got my mustang. But, anyway there was a thread a while back about a 95 GT vs a 96 Z28. And yes stock for stock the Z28 would beat the GT. Everyone on the site was saying the guy in the Z28 would destroy the mustang. But, I wanted to have a friendly race with the mods I have and everyone said I would get killed badly even with the few mods I have.
Well, anyway to the story. I was cruising 37 with my GF in the car after just beating an older 5.0. When I come up to a white Z28. We go from around a 40-50 punch to about 100-110. Throughout the whole race he pulled about a 1/2 a car to a car on me. He had exhaust and intake and I have the mods in the sig. I love both cars but I don't understand where people get this notion that the LT1 Z28 is so much superior to the 5.0. I pulled into the gas station and talked with him and he was a nice guy. This is where I learned that it was a 96 and what mods he had. So, all in all I just want to say good run if you post on here.

a streetrace on 37 who would have ever thought lol...use to just sit at checkers and watch em all night ...anyway like all mustangs there more of a drivers car...a bad driver can make a 5.0 or 4.6 slow or a good driver can make them fast...Fbodys much easier of a car to drive...and w/ bolt ons and the extra cubes has the uptop advantage

when i had those mods on my 97...I raced a full bolt on/geared 94 cobra fom a roll and whipped him bad..also raced a 93 lx w/ 5spd bolt ons/gears on the hwy and whopped him pretty bad also... w/ some good driving he should be seeing 13.5-7's @ 102-103...and I see you dont have gears(helps 5.0's huge)...I say he should have won fairly easy..probably 2-3 cars

The LT1 is better from a dig isn't it? From everything that I have read, the LT1 will gain significant ground if launched properly (pretty tough with the M6 though). Sounds like a good race though.

no the 95 gt came with a 5.0 liter.(215 hp i believe)..mustangs didnt get the 4.6 til 96...
but yea the guy in the z28 should have pulled on you pretty good with his mods even if he was stock, especialy being that you have stock gears and not being that modified..it(the z28) either ran poorly or he didnt know how to work the m6

The thread about the 95 gt and 96 z28 was about my friend and I. The only reason that the second race was close was because i had a very bad launch and his was pretty good. So i had to play catch up pretty good. It took me all the way to my end of second to beginning of 3rd gear to get next to him. After that though i started walking away from him. We haven't raced from a stop yet again but we have raced a few more times from a roll. The results are always the same i walk him pretty bad. But his is also a convertable. Your car is lighter then a regular gt like Steve y said. So it would be a pretty close race. Anyways good run and get some gears in that car. That makes a huge difference in those 5.0's.
Now all i gotta do is race my other friend 03 GT. It will be close but i'm pretty sure i can beat him from a roll at least. We did a couple of quick little runs and i pull a little bit.
