Viper gets a surprise

i was cruising around last nite and i happened to see a really low red car get off the parkway exit ahead of me....i weaved through a couple cars to get closer and when i got up behind him i saw it was a Viper. looked like a mid 90s model, RT-10 with the soft top.

I toyed with the idea of trying to get this guy to play just to get my ass handed to me but then i got a window of opportunity! i was fortunate enough to stop next to this guy (bout 40ish looking) at a light. Usually i hate stoplight racing but this was too good to possibly pass up. i kicked i into neutral and revved at him a bit. He looked over chuckled a little and nodded his head while firing an interesting sounding V10 rev back at me. on green i babied it out of the hole and when i thought i could get a little traction...i hammered it....I heard his 335s wailing away next to me and when i bit a pulled a couple cars on him....i had to shut it down at around 75-80 mph for safety sake, but he never did pass me.

when i had the opportunity to slow down he pulled up and said "man that thing sounds bad a$$ from back there! You got a blower under the hood or something?" i replied "nope ALL motor." he looked a little surprised but laughed it off and said "good run guy." then he waved and took off.

Now i know if that thing had caught traction sooner i wouldnt have pulled for crap on him and if we would have wound that one out longer he would have walked right by me but my Z defended its honor just fine in my book. definitely most fun i've ever had with a stoplight race.

Vipers are fun kills. OTOH, the drivers usually seem to have an attitude, at least the ones around here. It's fun, in a way, when they get so pissed at losing. But it's better if everyone goes away smiling. At least the guy you raced seemed pretty cool.

With your mph he would have reeled you in eventually, but a kill is a kill! Its all about traction! Good job representing the fbodies.

Vipers are really interesting races. I have played around with them on the interstate only for them just to throw me around like a rag doll. No real races, just quick bouts of acceleration There is a brand new one here in town that a middle-aged woman drives, and I see her everyday that I go out and she ALWAYS revs all over me if we're ever at a stop light together *which seems to happen quite often*. I rev at her back, but I never race...too scared to see how bad she'd whoop me God I just think the V10s sound like ****, though
