fox body with a 250hp shot??
just talked to a fella that had a '90ish 5.0 that wanted to run my car for money. i would have taken the bet, but there was 3 of them and no neutral party to hold the dough. he said the motor was stock except for a 250 hp shot. can a stock 302 take a 250 shot?? his car had drag radials on it and the engine sounded pretty tame.
my suspicion is that a) he is bs'ing about have that big of a shot, or b) he is bs'ing about the motor being stock and does have that big of a shot.
your opinions, plz...
oh, my car covers the local 1/8th the same as m6 c5s running street tires.

i know that the 87-92 motors had all forged internals...so I guess it could be possible..still seems like a big shot...

forged internals? Forged Pistons maybe, but I don't think the rods or crank.
And I know of WAY too many people who've blown up 5.0L stockish motors at 150shot.

with that being said.....and if his engine isn't load at all then chances are, he is somewhat stock and probably has spray but not enough to beat you. Take him down and take his money!
good luck
post back the results.

after talking to a few ppl, it does seem like the rotating assy in this particular car would have been forged from the factory, so with proper tuning a 2-stage 250 hp is probably doable.
just my opinion- i think what he does is bait other cars into racing him by going a short distance with them door-to-door (and of course we all know how slow stock 5.0s are ), then wants to race for money (he said $100- i said "what do i need $100 for?"), then on comes the 2-stage nitrous shot when the money comes out.

250 is doable but you are on borrowed time. Most fox bodies can live under 150 all day if they are in sound condition to begin with and tuned properly.

My question for you is why you have 36 lb injectors? Do you have a Cam and Heads? You went way to big.

I think that's what he was getting at.....why did you need bigger injectors? Are you going with a heads/cam setup or supercharger? If not, 36'ers are overkill.

my car was data-logged using Ease Enhanced OBD-II Powertrain Scanner and was running 8% lean at idle and the injector duty-cycle at wot was very high (i don't remember the exact percentage)- even with the limited mods that i have. if i'm not mistaken, the '99s have the smallest injectors of any.
and yes, a cam, headers and possibly nitrous are in store for the future.
