my 94 formula vrs 99 Grand Am
my friend and I raced, although i was quite cocky, i think i got a bad start
but i hear him peeling out a little and jumped off the line a little quicker then i did, and he stayed even with me until about 45-50, although there was a lexus in his lane at about that speed, he swirved onto the shoulder
but thats when i started really pulling on him...
does this sound right?
i was getting kinda nervous... i thought it would have been no competition.
i mean i had 20+ cars on him by the time i let off
but dont u think i should have shot ahead all the way in the begining?

With a good launch, it doesn't surprise me. Launch is everything for the first 1/10 mile or so

i have a 93z and also a 01 grand am gt, when my z was stock the gt felt like it could keep up for a sec or two, but that was it, my gt is fairly fast for a v6 and it feels stronger on top end than my camaro v6, the gt is faster on top end because ive had it at 130 and the y87 only went 119

i gotta fix it up make sure its running right before i dump money into the engine & trans
but i dont wanna raise the gears cause then it gets worse gas mileage... even stall will lower it about 2 or 3 mpg

That thought never entered my mind when I installed 4.10's... and it was the best performance mod Ive done along with the exhaust and CAI. You will not regret it, I promise.

Even with those mods, he should still get better than 10mpg. Even if you punched it at every stoplight, I'm sure you could get better than 10 mpg...
I get about 21 combined city/highway; not too bad
