93' - 02' F-bodies : Wheel Interchangibility?

What is the real deal on this? Can all factory wheels on all 93' and up F-bodies be switched and so forth? I have a friend with a 94' 3.4L Firebird who recently purchased a set of brand new 99' Trans-Am 16 x 8" wheels and tires. We seem to have a fitment problem on the rear. It looks as though the wheel centers are too small to fit over the wheel hubs. Is this because of the fact that the OEM T/A wheels were designed for rear disc brakes? What is the solution? I've heard several different things, inc. trimming the inner wheel centers just enough to allow fitment, using some kind of wheel spacers, or converting to a rear disc setup. What is the bottom line on this? I know GM wasn't exactly world-class engineering, but there has to be a verdict on the interchanging of these rims. What should we do? Has this ever happened to anyone else? Any suggestions? Thank you very much for any and all help that is given...

Ya i recently bought a set of 99 z28 rims 16X8 and the local tire shop had to drill around the rear center caps for it to fit, although they look nice they seem to squeak alot when im driving, hope this helps

for some stupid ass reason, GM decided to change the hubs on the 98+'s. You need to take the pass rear rim, set it on the ground, and grind the hell out of the inner lip behind the cap, then it'll fit nice and snug.

Got 2 steel wheels (factory 16x8's)
from a junkyard to use as snow rims..
well blew out passenger tires (both) on road debri(real fun) put steel wheels on todrive
to work that nite.Well what a b--ch!! front
tire wouldn't turn....rim against brake
caliper.....so I guess you don't ever
rotate directional tires...????
