exhaust piping
i have a stock 350 motor, with long tube headers with 3" collectors, true dual, is it ok to run 3" all the way or whould i get 2.5"???

run the 2.5 " inch exhaust the 3" won't provide enough backpressure for a stock engine, but if you plan on building it up just go to 3 inch so u wont have to buy a new exhaust system later and just sacrifice some power now

Hey Talos,I thought you said before that your engine was bored and stroked and it made 381 hp. You even had a dyno graph on your pics page a while back. Now you say it is a stock 350. I'm getting confused. If your engine really has 381 hp then 2.5in pipes are big enough. If you have a stock 350 you don't want to go any bigger than 2.5in or you'll have less power and more fuel consumption. You also said you have dual 3in e-cutouts. How could you have 3in cutouts on 2.5in pipe-did you put a reducer on either side of the cutout? Why didn't you just buy 2.5in cutouts?

wrong car buddy... ya im getting cutouts... i was just wandering cuz i just got some long tubes for the car, then im getting the cutouts... i was wandering if i can run 3" cutouts on the headers cuz they have 3" collectors then i can reduce to a 2.5

you can just have a muffler shop bend the pipe to fit or you might be able to buy them pre-bent and install them yourself, if your looking for a shop my old neighbour owns an exhaust shop where i used to work and he always cuts people good deals plus he's one of the best i've seen at building dual exhaust setups

Flowmaster sells 2-1/2" over the axle tailpipes so you could put that together from the muffler back pretty easily.

Oh,I thought it was your car.I'd go with 2.5in for tailpipes.I have 3in myself (not mandrel bent)and the clearance is tight.With 2.5in you won't have any problems and it will still support 400+ hp

You cn go with 2.5 inch pipes over the axle and continue with them between the springs and body. It is a tight fit and you have to be careful with the alignment so that they don't vibrate against the body when you drive. That is an annoying sound.
I have my pipes 2.5 just like that and they sometimes hit the body. By having them like this they are sort of hidden from view and just shows up under the rear bumper. Much like the original look.
Remember that the first gen had its muffler in fron of the gastank parallel to the rear axle.
