i was having this prob also and it turned out to be the shock sensor in the trunk it is on the side where the spare is on the wheel well it is a little black box with a plug and a light on it. i took mine out instead of replaceing it cause and now it works fine.

This same thing happened to me. I took it to the dealer and after replacing the alarm control module to no avail, they finally discovered it was the shock sensor. They said when the amps in my stereo system were powering down, it was causing the shock sensor to go off. So they took it out/disabled it, and it was fine after that.

Hey! Thanks for the replies! The problem seems to have fixed itself. Yesterday morning when I got to work is when I had the problem. It happened about 3 times that morning so I left the car unlocked, came out for lunch and locked it and it happened again. Drove to lunch, locked it and it has not accured again. When you had your problems was it random when it malfunctioned or constant?

Deb, the problem has not fixed itself...it will re-emerge. The owner's manual explains how to adjust the alarm sensitivity. Try that...it worked well for me.

Well, still no luck with the alarm. I tried adjusting the sensitivity, however it did not work. I noticed based on the number of chirps the horn made when I locked it, that the sensor was reading the trunk as ajar. I fixed that, but when I lock it now after about a minute the alarm goes off and when I unlock it it chirps twice which means the shock sensor was activated. I think the sensor it bad......anyone know how much the part cost? Thanks for all your assistance!

I had the same problem with my 02 Z the day I brought it home. I just disconneted the shock sensor and had the dealer put a new one in,works fine now. If not under warrenty call your local parts dept. for the price on the part, its easy to put in.

Hello! Well, this weekend I played with the alarm some more and I figured out that its is the shock sensor that is bad. I disconnected it and I am going to order a new one and try to install it myself! It can't be that hard right?! hahahaa.... Just unscrew the old and put the new in, then reconnect the wires right!?! I guess dad will have to help me if I can't do it on my own! I will let you know how it works out!
Thanks again for all the assistance.....

Hello again! Well, the problem is fixed! I bought a new shock sensor, $36.00 bucks, and installed it this weekend. It was very easy, the part has a sticky back and you just peel and stick! I plugged it in and its been working great since! Hopefully no other issues will come up with the car. Thanks again for the assistance!
