Cool Bought a loudmouth today...I'm freakin stoked!

After driving around with an uncapped cutout for a number of weeks now (and it's a WEE bit too loud and crackly for me now...), I finally gritted my teeth and shelled out 340 bucks for a dual/dual tip LM, shipped. I can't wait till I get it next week

I usually drive to school with the cutout capped, but soon I can scare the import crowd FULL time at summer school as soon as I have this beast installed And I'll still have that great sound, just not as loud anymore

Anyone (I know this has been asked to death... so please forgive me) have any tips for me when I install it? Also, I didn't buy the SLP y-pipe, but I was wondering - would the installation of the y-pipe make a big difference in sound (if not performance) as well?

I recently heard a car that had the LM and a y-pipe and I didn't sound any different than with just the cat-back as far as I could tell. Anyone else?

Love the loudmouth on my 2000 Transam, brings a smile to my face everytime I start up.
Hey question, does anyone know how to create a signature?
Hey Kenshin02ws6, how do you like those FLP Headers, any problems installing them or with the EGR or o2 sensors? Any computer errors? Can you get through inspection with them?

The FLP's are just fine. Installation was trouble free. I had the EGR deleted and I run O2 simulators. All possible error codes were wiped out. Inspection? I guess it depends on where you go.

A cutout is really no different than loudmouth catback. Their both un refined sounding. If you want something tuned get like B&B or Corsa. Loudmouth is basically straight pipes or a cutout just extended to the rear of the car. If you get tired of it though you can replace the resonator with a muffler. That might refine the sound some.

I know it's not a whole lot quieter, but what I said above was that the cutout was just a "WEE" bit too loud, and besides I wanted to change out the whole thing anyway, and the cutout was only 40 bucks, so no biggie for me. I think the money's worth the difference, at least to me. If I do get tired of it though, I think I will think about buying a bullet muffler though, if the price is right.

Dude, don't worry about it, get a set of MAC headers and then you'll be scaring the ricers to death. A bullet muffler couldn't hurt if you want to smooth out the exhaust a little, but if you are anything like me, it isn't manly enough to begin with.

I must admit the Loudmouth is byfar the best exhaust i have heard on any LS1. My friend has true dual glass packed side exhaust on his 02 SS and it sounds like a motorcycle since you only hear 4 cylinders on a side. The only thing needed when installing is a saws-all unless you want to take apart half of your suspension to get old exhaust off. I rented one for 2 days for about 30 bucks, well worth the 30 seconds instead of 2 hrs of disconnecting and connecting of susp. parts. Good luck with the LM, you'll love it.

If the cutout was too rough sounding why not put a couple washers on each bolt then the cap? Also a power cutout is a FUN toy. You can pull up at a stop light by a stang/rice and go from idling quietly to revving SOO loud he's got to look twice It would have been a lot cheaper and more adjustable than LM. If you ever get headers the LM will be way too loud to keep. Hope you have fun with the LM, too!

The loudmouth is great, love mine. I talked to a guy who made the following mod to the loudmouth system. He added the "Hooker Large Bore (resonator) Exhaust tips" to the replace the stock SLP tips. He sad it quieted down the loudmouth a great deal, at the lower rpms , but still let it sound loud and great at wot. The Hooker tips look great too, and they are only $25 per tip from Jegs. I am planning on ordering myself a set of tips as well. On Jegs (online) search partno 520-22010 or 520-22011, enjoy.

Finally got the Loudmouth installed today, it looks awesome, sounds badass, and it's just right for me. I was able to scare off ricers in my neighborhood by getting them to lower their heads in submission at a single rev, the neighbors complained just like I wanted them too (I told them to kiss my ass if they didn't like it) and I totally loved the deep and loud exhaust note (I didn't mind the droning at all, I thought it was cool).

However, I drove it back home after installing it at a friend's place, and by the end of my 10 mile trip I noticed this banging noise as I went up my drive way. It was the pipe vibrating against my driveshaft. No biggie for me, I'd heard that this was common, and needs only a simple adjustment since the pipe is hot and expanded.

Now the nightmare: About 30 mins ago I was inspecting the tips and the fit and finish of the installation when this small f---ing L-shaped golden bracket falls down. It was the bracket that went on the rubber mount for the exhaust after the axle. To make matters worse, the nut that secured the bracket was missing too.

The entire rear of the exhaust is now just lying on top of my axle, and makes an additional clanking noise, which is making me VERY nervous. I'm gonna get this **** fixed ASAP, but in the meanwhile does anyone know if this will do any damage to my exhaust pipe or the axle? I REALLY need some help.

Maybe, if you are some kind of *****. I'll admit the car is quite loud, but that's what I like, the only time I would like it a little quieter is when cruising on the highway with the tops off and the radio up to a listening leven then trying to talk on top of all of that. It's kind of annoying, but at 90 MPH I should be concentrating on driving instead of talking anyway.
