Saturn's 2005-2008 new car line-up!

2005 - GMT201 (GMT201-platform) "Relay" minivan.
2006 - GMX384 (Epsilon-platform) "Five" (Saturn version of Malibu Maxx)
2007 - GMT966 (Lambda-platform) Sport wagon (no official name yet).
2008 - GMT319 (Theta-platform) "VUE" replacement (same as Chevy Equinox)
2009 - GMT962 (Lambda-platform) "Relay" minivan replacement.

The current Vue will get a facelift in 2005 and the current Ion will get a facelift in 2006.

Guess Sky isn't merely dead, but really, purely, truly dead.

(sorry, it's late & I watched the Wizard of Oz a couple of weeks ago)

"Saturn Five", as in the rocket. That's a little... um...

Yeah.

Judging by sales figures the new Ion needs a facelift now.

I Think the Ion is one of the better looking small cars on the market. Its far better looking that the 2003 Cavi and sunfire.

Exterior wise, I think the Ion looks good as well. But, if you've seen the interior, you'll understand why it isn't selling well. The design and layout is just awfull.

I agree... the interior is a MESS.

The exterior is OK, IMO, except for 2 specific items:

1) The C-pillar is horribly blocky looking... makes the profile of the car look clunky. I dont understand what they made that straight up and down look there???

2) The 'bows' or whatever you want to call the roofline pieces... they look ridiculous when painted silver and the rest of the car is another color... who the heck approved that?!?!? At least that is an easy fix... paint it body color (which I think is an option anyway)

I actually like the Center IP in the Ion and especially this one tricked out in Carbon fiber http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/att...?postid=202025

The complaints about the center gauges in the Ion usually come from people who havent driven the car. Even most racing tachs are placed on the right hand side of the dash near the center , which ironically happens to be the same place where the Ion gauges are.

The ugliest thing about the ION is the absolutely horrible cloth interior on the Ion-2 models that look like a patchwork done with 5 different cloth patterns that dont match each other. The cloth in the Ion-1's are actually pretty nice.

I think most people are a little too harsh/critical on Saturn but I guess that because most people want to see it succeed and hate to see when GM really screws something up that should have been good.

I really havent got that good of a look at the interior in all the models, I hate the center IP, mostly just for the way it looks, it is actully good as far a function goes.

a bunch of new cars are going to be getting center IPs like the Nissan minivan and the toyota scions. One of the cooler IPs i have seen has been in the G35/350z where it moves with the steering colum

Yeah.
But it'd slot right in between the Mazda 3 and the Mazda 6...
