Post Cleaning up amateur spray paint job?

Yes, I'm the amateur.

I just spray-painted the console around my M6 shifter with Engine Enamel's "Daytona Yellow." Looks good! I'm going for a black and yellow theme...

Anyhow, since I'm no pro, there are a few drip marks (only a FEW!!! ), and I'd like to use something to blend everything in nice and smooth. I didn't use any clear coat as it would make it stand out too much, IMO.

Kevin, or anyone else, what product do you suggest for smoothing out a paint job like this? I have a bottle of 3M Finesse-It II left over from someone else... would that work, or do I need something else?

Also, with no clear coat, can I still use Z-5/Z-2 or do I need to buy Z-3?

Thanks!

Thanks for the thoughts.

I'm not going to use clear but it already has a nice gloss and I wouldn't want it to stand out anymore. It blends in very nicely.

What grit sandpaper would you use?

1000 maybe. If that doesn't work just use progressivly heavier sand paper.

P.S. I know you said you don't want to, but I would clear coat it. It may look nice now, but it will get dull as it gets dirty and will be harder to clean

Even if I Zaino it after the paint cures? I don't want it super glossy, it'll look like some kind of toy or something. Thanks for the thought, though, I'll still consider it.

BTW, if it says you can apply new coats after 5 days, "after the paint cures," should I assume that's how long I should wait before Zaino'ing it too?
