Good places in SE Michigan that make good car photo backgrounds
Can anyone recommend good landscapes or "cool-looking" buildings in SE Michigan that would make good backgrounds for taking car photos?

Or near the twin stacks near the Rouge Bridge..Not the normal ones though! The sweet ones with the yellow dust comin out the tops.. yeaaa
Honestly though, with the power of Motown Muscle, i'd like to rent I-75 for a day and maybe we could line up on the Rouge Bridge with the city in the background...anyone else wanna get somethin like this goin?

any nice place near the water looks great especially at dusk.....
try outwards toward the country.....large vacant fields look nice.
airforce base supplies some sweet pics....
just use your imagination; plenty of spots, try cranbrook as well....pulled some really nice sets out there!

Denny, i would love to have a pic of my car on the rouge bridge right under the I-75 Detroit --> --> --> sign with the city in the background.
Belle isle, stoney creek (or any other metropark), airstrip...

Any of the Metorparks/State parks usually have some good areas to take pics. Hines drive that runs from Dearborn to Northville has some neat areas beside streams and such. Pickney State Park north of Ann Arbor has some reall cool curvy roads in the forest that would be good for picture.
Another thought is at the Marinas in front of all the boats, that usually makes for a classy photo opp.
Kepp in mind, if you have a dark car the best time to take photos is just as the sun starts going down. this hides alot of the inperfections and provides a nice reflection on the car. Also try a couple with the headlights on....I think it looks cool.
Are we gonna get to see some of these masterpieces after you get them taken?

Don't get too concerned with a background.
You want to draw attention to the car.
Here's some more tips on taking car pictures

I am an amatuer photographer that just recently started to seriously shoot cars.
With some luck you may see my work in a few publications at your newstand.
I can tell you that one thing that really helps a car "pop" is its backround.
For instance a silver or white car against a red brick wall would really make the car jump out at you or "pop" as it is said.
The lakefront can be nice at dusk or sunrise, but then you have to contend with the sun position and have to make sure you have the right colored car there. My silver SS washed right out against the lake on an overcast day, but on a sunny day when the sky was blue and the lake was a darker color it really worked well.
I Would be more than willing to work with a few of you guys if you wnat to try something.
Denny there are ways to get certain shots without impeading traffic on I-75. Certain speed film and sitting in the back on an open vehicle can be an amazing angle

I took this picture on some black and white film at a local park. Just try to find something that does't have a bunch of cars or people in the background. http://groups.msn.com/MyFbodyPage/my...to&PhotoID=551

"The" spot I recently noticed that jump'd out at me was the main drive leading into The Palace of Auburn Hills.
Theres a landscaped wall and a HUGE slate rock water spillway about 20 foot tall that boarders the one side of the 5lane driveway.
check it out its SWEET location.

Another good place is right in front of the Automotive Hall of Fame, next to Greenfield Village. (on Oakwood Blvd, in Dearborn)
Though, i did try to get some pics of my car there, but someone already had 2 old '50 Fords parked out front (the owners were no where to be found). but that's just my luck. Try on a early sunday morning there's usually no cars there.
Or as someone else already said Edward Hines Drive is always one of my favorite places, but beware of Wayne Counties finest, if they catch you parking on the grass, they will give you a ticket to the tune $205.00 atleast that's what is was about 5 years ago, probably more now.

Yep, it just says Hell, Michigan. Hell Creek party store. Or a cool group shot would be in front of the other building that is red with the flames on it. I haven't been there in a few years so things might have changed.
I have pics but no scanner.
