ws6 vs a Lightning???
i used to own a 94 trans am and i thought that was the quickest thing around... it was (then) i wooped on mustangs all day long... im wondering how a new ws6 would do against a new lightning? both in the 13's if you can get a good driver driven a 6 speed you think you could take a stock L? i always thought so... thanks again for everyones time... again i had a 94 ta and sold that for a 2000 Lightning and love it but thanks for all your help with everything in the last year... The NEW WS-6's better beat a lightning. The LS-1's are low 13 second cars stock, and the lightning's are what? mid to high 13 second trucks stock?

I love both T/A's, Camaros and Lightnings. At the track I have seen stock 2002 lightnings run low 13's, the 2001 and 2002 Lightnings are faster than the 1999's or 2000's there are several differences that make the new ones faster but also the Camaros and t/a's received more power for 2001 and 2002 and do run low 13's all day long. I have a 2002 Camaro with a few mods and I can run a 13.2 to 13.4 all day long on street tires with really bad traction. Most 2001 or 2002 stock lightnings can keep up with me in the quarter but there trap speeds are low and I have raced a few on the highways and I blow them away everytime. A lightning will run a 0-60 in 5.2 about the same as a camaro but the lightnings top speed is 142 where as I have had my Camaro up to 162, the speedo only goes up to 155 but the tach calculations showed 162 mph. I'd have to say that the lightning and Camaro are almost even with a slight edge to the supercharged lightning but it really does come down to the driver.

lightnings dont impress me much.It takes a 5.4L with a supercharger to come close to a stock 5.7L.What happens when you go to a level playing field and add a supercharger to the WS6? Low 12`s or high 11`s
also most Lightnings that I have seen run 13.4-14.0 depending on the year and the driver

like i said i had a 94 trans am and i was wanting to sell that and get a 99 ws6 and go from there... (eventually supercharging it) but i got talked into looking at lightnings WITH the supercharger... and i came across a good deal on mine and i got it... and love it... i'll admit i do run a consistant 13.8 all day long... apose to a low 13 in a ws6 (correct?) but i still love both cars...
just my 2 cents...

Sumpin' to remember with ANY S/C'd vehicle...
REAL easy to increase boost by changing pulley's! Soooo... before you race one, make sure a stock sized one is in place!
Thats probably the reason for time ranges from hi/mid 13's to low 13's! Now... add a small shot of squeeze to cool the intake charge and... twelves!!!

I appreciate everyones oppinion and respect for my truck... It does weigh 44 hundred pounds and to get that down the 1320 with a supercharger or not in 13 seconds is respectable... It's hard to imagine how they get that power out of a 5.4l truck.
Sense my post i did upgrade my lower pulley to a 4 pound lower so now with my mass air, cone filter, chip and pulley im putting out 14 pounds of boost. Stock was 8. I'm hoping to go from stock 13.8 to a 12.8 or so. I am in Illinois so my truck is stored for the winter, i'd love to get it to the track and run a 12... I also have a great sounding catback exhaust from JDM. its 2 bullet magnaflow mufflers, an x pipe and 3 inch tips. I love it!

rock1501- You are talking about almost 5000 lbs of mass with a driver in it running the quarter in a vehicle that is about as aerodynamic as a flying brick. I am very impressed with the Lightnings. I have seen very well driven 01+ Lightnings run mid to low 13s stock. I have seen very porely driven ls1s with serious traction problems run mid to high 13s. I think this will be a drivers race. Both being good drivers I say the ls1 will win most the time, but drivers play a big role in racing too.
Just to add I am very impressed with the ls1s too. I also like the lt1s too.
