Post First Time at the Track

Hey guys, Can you give me some advice on what I can do to better my times. I went to Milan Dragway last night, and had runs that varied from 14.0 to a best of 13.46 w/ 60' varying from 2.526 to a best of 2.098 . How long should I heat up the Nitto's, what tire pressure is best, and any other ideas would be appreciated. I'm going back next Wednesday for more FUN and hopefully better times.

Sounds like you had fun running your car.
Isn't it a nice feeling when you get that time slip that shows a nice improvement from a previous run?

As far as suggestions go....Since you have alot of good mods already....just practice your launches. When heating the DR's up...get them spinning without over revving. You want to feel when they break loose and try to keep the RPM's constant so you can "feel" the tires starting to grab. It should take no more than 6 seconds. The norm is 3-4 I would think.

Then stage the car, bring the RPM's up while holding the car and then GO.

hope this helps.

Their track sucks for getting traction, I go there every week and have the same problem. With you Nittos though you should warm them up on the bleach blocks and then you should stick, the problem is that they don't mantain the track very well on Wednesdays because everyone goes there for $20 and there is no real competitive races, you can go on a Friday and probably cut your times, I don't know exactly what it is but the track just sucks on Wednesdays. I will be up there on Monday this week, when you go email me at jpvella@online.emich.edu and I'll race you, our times are the exact same so it will make for some good runs, look for me in the Navy blue 2002 Camaro Z28 with a ram air hood. Good Luck and have fun.

Thumbs up

My suggestion would be to abandon the ice rink and go to Mid Mich Motorplex in Stanton next Wed. For $15 you can t&t at a good track from 4:30pm 'till 9:30pm. It's a longer drive for you but worth it.
Look for the "Chameleon" if the weather is decent.

Thanks for the advice guys, I've heard that Milan sucks for traction quite a few times , so it good to know of other tracks in the area. I'll probibly head on down to Milan Monday ... I'll shoot you an e-mail jp2002ls1 if I go for sure , I'm always up for some friendly competition.
