Post HAL QA1 install

Fixing to install HAL shocks on the front using HAL springs. I have done a search on this as well as looked at a couple of other sites with no clear answer. What I need to know is what is required to be installed on the top of the HAL shock rod when installing using their springs? Can you just slide the rod up through the stock mounting plate or do you have to place a spacer of some sort on the rod before the install? The instructions are not very clear on this and HAL doesn't answer my emails. The stock dust boot does not fit over the rod nor inside the springs. Any help would be appreciated, pictures would be even better.
Thanks!
Later ... Larry S.

Forget the dust boot and use the factory upper mount.
