Ford Fusion wins Motor Trend 2010 Car of the Year award

Congrats to Ford. It is a great car but I didn't see this one coming. I'm surprised it beat the Taurus, I'm guessing the Fusion hybrid had a lot to do with the win. That is an impressive car.

It is a pretty nice little car. Of the range I like the Sport the most - even if it isn't really all that sporty. It still has some decent power.

I dont keep up to much with the midsize family cars , but the latest Fusion , the sport specifically , is a petty good looking sedan . Congrats to FoMoCo .

Fusion is a better overall car then the Taurus.
Taurus lacks the Fusion's huge powertrain flexability. Taurus clearly has a much nicer interior, by leaps and bounds. Its almost like they were designed by two different companies. Thats the Fusion's only downfall in my book. It lacks style and quality.

I disagree. I think the new Fusion looks leaps and bounds better than the old one (which looked fine, IMO). Ford's quality is supposedly as good as anyone's...so...if it didn't win on style and quality, what did it win on? Wasn't power or performance. Fuel economy with the hybrid would be the only leg left to stand on.

I think it's a nice looking car. Seems to reach out to younger professionals more than a Malibu IMO. However a Malibu LTZ doesn't look out of place when you see it in a posh downtown area, along with lexus, jaguar, volvo, audi, etc.

I too have to disagree. As far as style goes I have had a lot of people compliment the car, just random people in parking lots stop me and say, 'Wow, thats a nice looking car.' I expect that with the Sky but a Ford sedan. They obviously did something right.

As far as quality all has been well with ours, though it is still brand new and as Koz2 stated. Ford has some of the highest rankings out there.
To further agree with Koz, this car was my wifes top choice (at 24 yrs old).

Just need a Fusion SVT with ecoboost (and maybe AWD) to fix that one. IMO if they went that route, they should bench the Cobalt SS and bump the bar a bit.

Kudos to Ford. It's a good car. I always liked the first Fusion's exterior style better but the new one is probably a better car overall. As stated earlier the Hybrid gets the most press and for good reason. It's the first hybrid that can get small Prius sized vehicle MPG in a useable midsize sedan. Quite groundbreaking actually especially from an American car company.

This doesn't surprise me. Every time I see one on the street I'm still impressed with what a neat looking car it is for the class. I think it's a real winner for Ford and obviously others agree - Fusion climbed into the top 10 sellers in the U.S. last week and is the #1 selling domestic car.
