Beats me why anyone would want the Camaro without the console gauges... Dummy lights describes perfectly those that they are for, DUMMIES.

Guages

I had a budget ($30,000.00) and had to go over a little for the V8. The 1SS did not offer the cluster guages as an option. I went to dealer today and was told that I could add it after delivery. I'm at 3400 so I should have VIN soon. Ordered 10-30-2008.

Gauges

They did not know. I' thinking under $200.00. It just replaces they tray and should already have the harness.

Thats not to bad. The difference between the 1SS and the 2SS that I would want is about $3000. But there are only five things I would want of the 2SS not offered in the 1SS and the four-pack of guages is number one on the list. Leather seats, steering wheel mounted audio controls, the 9 speaker/245 watt system and the USB port are the others. The rest I can live without.
Are those worth $3000? Keep in mind it probably has a real decent sound system, reaching for the radio isn't so bad and leather seats are sweet but not always practical. I just have to have the V8, thats all.

You may want to skip the dealer added gauges and wait a bit, I'm confident it will become an easy to find item in a short wile for quite a bit less.

I was told the guages are already offered. Don't quote me on the price. It's plastic guages and the harness is already included in all the Camaros. Looks like the tray comes out and the guages replace that area. I'll let you know. Mine is suppose to be here soon.

1SS added upgraded stereo, polished wheels and extra cost paint. ordered 10-30-2008

Related Question...

Do the 2SS six-speed cars get a trans temp gauge as the fourth gauge in the console?
I thought monitoring transmission temperature was generally for automatics.

Go to gmaccessory.com. It has the part numbers for the guage console, price has not been disclosed yet.

Thumbs up

The 1SS is considered a "Stripped" race ready car....without all the goodies...

The gauges come with a new top console plate. They plug into wiring already there, BUT need to be activated with a GM tool... And the 1LS cannot get the gauges, only the 1LT and 1SS can have them added.

Here are the various part numbers:

IN THE USA, we have 3 - 4 pack gauge part numbers, AS FOLLOWS:

PART #92228153 3.6 6 speed manual trans

PART #92228165 6.2 (LS3) 6-spped Manual trans

PART #92228166 3.6 Auto and L99 Auto

the automatic use the same gauge pack, regardless of V6 or V8

Guage cluster

The guages for the automatic are now available. COST: $560.00. Installation is extra. I'm sure the manuals will be the same or close.
