iPhone 3G w/ USB on Camaro

I plugged in my iPhone 3G into the USB port, and the following message appears on the screen:

I just say no, and everything appears to work flawlessly. Phone is connected through bluetooth, and I don't get any type of interferance at all.

Cool. So what exactly does your iPhone do with the Camaro? Play music?

Yep! Not to mention, you can control the iPod playback using the steering wheel controls.

Plus, you can use the car's built-in Bluetooth feature to use the phone portion thought the car's speakers/microphone.

That's just the start...for iPhone or iPod Touch and for not just the Camaro...if you want to really be cool...

If I am not mistaken, it plays music through the USB cable, but is controlled by steering wheel controls, and the phone portion is through Bluetooth. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

That's what Chris said in the first post; I'm pretty sure you're correct.

It'd be pretty cool if it could all be bluetooth...

Do any vehicles have this? At 3mbps, you'd think it would be possible.

I got used to them pretty easy. I mostly like to set it to play Random and just let it go from there.

The owners manual says "Bluetooth devices that support AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile) version 1.0 may be able to be controlled by the Infortainment System.

The message is just letting you know that what you have plugged your iPhone or iPod into won’t charge the device. Like you said the music should still work fine just make sure you don’t click yes that will put your phone into airplane mode. It would be cool if it was all through Bluetooth however even if the car supported that the iPhone does not. It’s the A2DP (stereo Bluetooth) profile which for some reasons the iPhone does not support that one. The new iPhone 3GS might but I don’t think it does either… now the question that I have is since you have the iPhone have you tried out the Pandora radio app and does the steering wheel controls work on that app?

Nope it’s just a USB port for the radio it won’t charge your device that’s why it will read a thumb drive.

The 3.0 OS for the iPhone now has A2DP support.

Actually, it does charge your device. Tested this on my iPhone 3G S since it lists the battery in percentage. Got in my car, it said 83% battery - drove around for an hour or so and it was at 100% when I unplugged it from the USB in the car.
