Would anyone want a glass roof Camaro?

Mustang has it. It doesn't open, and it has a retractable sunshade built into the roof. What's the opinion here of this feature?

I like it. I would order that over the traditional sunroof. I wouldn't be driving with a sunroof open very often.

I am not a big fan of it myself and I never have been for the Camaro.

Would be interesting, the biggest thing would be cost though.. would it cost GM more to make a glass roof like that over the standard roof?

Yes, and quite a bit. I don't know how much it is for the Mustang, but it wouldn't be any less I am speculating.

I wouldn't want it because it would come off as too much of a "me too" with the Mustang. I had considered something like a long skinny glass piece fit into the reverse mohawk would be cool. Like this:

The MSRP of it is like $1800-$1900 I believe, but if Ford is dealing, I guess it works out to probably $1600-$1800. The glass is tinted and shatter resistant, and has some coating that blocks UV. From the outside it looks basically black, like t-top glass did on the Camaro.

if it opens than maybe depending how it looks, but fixed like that i would pass. i never have the sunshade open with out the sunroof open on my blazer so i would probably end up ordering that and leaving the shade closed all the time. imo there's little point in glass that doesn't open. no airflow and all of the obnoxious sun in my face...

besides i like the reverse mohawk too much to sacrafice it for much

Wabasto makes this product and it was considered for the Camaro at one point by the team. Cost to the consumer was in the range of $2000. A few of us saw a model of the Camaro with this roof treatment in Aug. '07.
Anybody remember the mid-50's Ford Crown Vics with the 1/2 plexiglass roof?

But living in Arizona might have something to do with that answer...

I like the glass roof touch. I think it would be cool to look inside, then up and see the sky. I would like the mohawk design to be preserved in the glass. But, then again for 2k, would I rather have the glass roof or options like the Hurst shifter, headers or larger wheels.

I don't know about the reverse mohawk. I have it in my transparent top on the vette, but its made from polycarbonate and is just a sheet of plastic. The mustang roof is a tempered acoustic glass that has uv protection, is shatter resistant, and has a layer of something in there to lessen road/wind/ambient noise. I'm not sure how shapeable it would be. Certainly you could do a polycarbonate one, but you would lose all of those benefits above.

I like it. I rarely took of the t-tops on my 4th Gens but always enjoyed the glass roof view.
