I Have a front bumper that has a lot of scratches and what not on it, I want to redo the bumber so all I have to do is take to a body shop and they can repaint it. I know I will have to sand down the bumber, but what do you need to make it an easy job. Can you do it by hand or do you need and air sander or what? Need some help, thanks.

If you know what your doing and how to sand the bumper then i would say go ahead and get urself a DA and prob. like 320-400 grit sand paper i belive..check that b4 you do it..but if you dont have body experience..i would just go on ebay and buy a new bumper for like 120 bucks and have the body shop prime and paint it..thats prob. your best bet

you can do everything by hand. I would sand the primer with 400 after you spray it. Than again with 600, this is wet by the way. You can get primer in a spray can. Than the shop just has to shoot color and clear.
You could also do all the finish sanding and buffing yourself to save a few nickles.
Do you have any bodywork exp? If you dont i wouldnt tackle this project, you may screw up and really set yourself back. Goodluck

No I don't have any body experience, that's kind of why I wanted to try this. I figured if it didn't look good, I could like someone said earlier just go by a new bumper and have the pros do it.

go to a shop and ask for a piece of scarp to practice on. When i was 16 and wanted show the owner of the shop i worked at what i could do. If i wouldnt of he wouldnt of let me do bondo work.
This way you can really take it down to metal or plastic and do the job from scratch. You ll get a better understanding of what your doing.
As for the exp, buy a book or two. Read and practice on your scrap.
