93 Z with badly cracked roof

Looks like a jig-saw puzzle! No bubbles-What to do with it?

Re: 93 Z with badly cracked roof

My owners manual says the car has a basecoat/clearcoat paint finish. The clearcoat gives more depth and gloss to the colored basecoat.Sounds like the roof has to be repainted. My dad had a Buick Riviera that the hood got checked and a repaint was the only fix.Hope this helps.

Re: 93 Z with badly cracked roof

I was hoping that it was just the clearcoat finish. But, alas, the jigsaw puzzle cracks are deep and seem to be getting deeper.

Thanks , Ted

Re: 93 Z with badly cracked roof

Might be easier to replace the entire panel, just glues on. Replacement is available from 6LE Designs. The roof panels on the LS1 cars were plagued by an adhesive that bled through the composite plastic and caused bubbles all over the roof. Could not be repaired, just replaced. Haven't heard of problems with the 93-97 roof panels.

Here's an article that describes the replacement process:
