A 383 in an LT1 is not a big deal to make pass the smog test. Just make sure your headers are CARB approved with the EO number. Pick a mild camshaft, something in the 220-230 intake duration with 112-114 LSA, pair it with a good set of heads like AFR's or Trick Flow's, and find someone to do the custom tuning in the PCM (I can do 92-94 LT1's), and you're in business.

Good advice. With the cam, watch the overlap. On a 350, 48 degrees of overlap is the edge of the safe zone. You can get higher with good programming on a dyno.

On a 383, stay below 56 degrees of overlap. If the cam is lopey, then the smog guys get really nervous so keep the idle up.

LS2s are running 6.0s which is a 383 (different engine) but the displacement shows it is possible to pass smog and those are stock. If you've got the money, go for a 383.

www.lnrengine.com is a very good place to go.

Derek @ LNR built my 383. Reasonable prices and the guy is very knowledgeable.

The LS2 6.0L is 364 cubic inches, not 383. 383 cubic inches is 6.25L.

Oops. Your right, it isn't 383 cu in. On the volume calculator it came out to 366 cu in.
