Yah I dunno. I picked up my 94 LT1 for 3800. The owner said it has a "small" oil leak. The oil leak was the rear main. Needless to say it was 1 quart of oil a day... Small my ****. Now I am rebuilding it because I felt just replacing the seal wasnt good enough.
So I am almost done tearing it down and ordering forged internals. How one thing leads to another...

oh def not!
alot of track queens dont even use the MAF, they are mostly speed density cars, some ppl even disable the maf turning it into a speed density car when they tune!
but speed density is like a low tech version of maf
unless ure gunna do heavy modding u probably wont care...
also thing with 93s is tuning... they use EPROMs, which involves reprogramming the chip in there... compared to FLASH tune which is much more simple....
if its gunna be a bolt on car, u're good

One other drawback to 93's were that the injectors were batch fired instead of sequential. That means that they did not fire individually when the associated piston reached the appropriate point in the cycle. Instead groups of injectors fired at the same time regardless of were the piston was.
However, that being said, it is the feeling of several people that the size of the MAF is a restriction to a more free flowing, deep breathing performance engine and therefore many Hi-po engines use speed density as the main method of controlling the engine. As for the injector firing, that is something that can be changed for the better.
If I were you, I would further research the asking price of Z's in your area. If it turns out the 93 is still a good value, go for it. But check over the car as I mentioned before with a very critical eye.
