Whats the difference between Orange & Green antifreeze???
My car was originally filled with the orage antifreeze from GM, but sincei got it totalled, I had to refill the system. I was going to use regular Green antifreeze, like Dexron or whatever it is, and someone told me that i HAD to use the Orange stuff or it will mess it all up somehow, but never got into details. Just wondering what the difference was and how it would hurt the car if you had orange and went to regular dexron green antifreeze ... Thanks guys...

You can use one or the other, just not both at the same time. That's the problem. I believe the two different colors mix and create a sludge and you definately don't want that going through your engine. If you completely flush the system(block, radiator,& lines) you can use whichever color you want.

supposedly the orange dexcool works well and lasts a few years if its used right. it sludges up with a lot of air and especially if you mix it with the green stuff or so i have heard. the only way you can change over the orange to green is ifyou flush your system out thoroughly and drian it all out then add the green. im talking radiator, reservoir, block, and hearter core. if you do all that then u can change over. otherwise if u mix it could sludge up and cause major overheating problems. do a serach ull find some more ansewrs.

basically, this is what i came up with
green-supposed to last 2 years
orange-supposed to last 5 years, most say it won't
if mixed, won't exactly create sludge but will reduce the life of the coolant
basically, i don't think it would really matter
just change it every 2 years or so and you'll be fine
this is just my opinion though, take it for what you will
