What is a 1997 Camaro F1 Z28
Does anyone know anything about these cars? A guy I work with says he found one, and I have never heard of this car myself. The guy selling the car claims that there was only 8 of them in Canada..... He wants big money for it too.... He's asking $17,500 CDN for it with 155,000 km's on it.
If anyone has any info on it, I would like to learn more about this car
Thanks.

I'm pretty sure it's just a dealer installed appearance package that some Canadian dealers did, and I'm also pretty sure there are way more than 8 of them, since I've seen a few driving around my area over the years.
Definitely do not pay that kind of money for that car! His price is at least $5000 too high.

When I was looking to buy my car in 97 the dealer had another 97 Z28 that they had installed the "F1" package on. If I remember right it had the 17" SS wheels and tires, the body kit, a stripe kit, a GMPP CAI, and some sort of different exhaust. They wanted around $3000 extra for this package. I don't think they are anything extremely rare or anything. I would look at it the same as any other Z28 that just added those mods, which usually doesn't add much to the resale value unfortunately.

F1 was a GM factory body kit that was supplied to dealers loose for install. They were installed on virtually any Camaro that ordered the kit.... V6 or V8, 1LE or Z28.
Read the 4th Gen FAQ.
Last time I checked, this "kit" was still available in the GM Performance Parts catalog.

Thanks for the info on that guys, I actually found Injuneer's post earlier from the 4th gen faq page and figured it was just parts from the accessory catalog. Just for fun I called the dealer and everything is discontinued...
My buddy was pretty excited b/c he figured it was rare, and I was skeptical b/c I don't remember seeing an RPO code for such a thing. He offered the dealer 10 and he turned it down.
Thanks again

Re: What is a 1997 Camaro F1 Z28
Hi, all from the UK.
I picked up an F1 Camaro in black only 4 months ago for £4000 and am currently doing a few bits to maintain and improve the car, one of the decals needs replacing but are like hen's teeth to find even classic industries dont have them so i might have to get them made from scratch.
Does anyone have any good suggestions to make the car brake better as it already has vented discs as standard and uprated pads many thanks?

Re: What is a 1997 Camaro F1 Z28
The most popular low-cost brake upgrade is to install the larger front brakes from the 1998-2002 models. In the US it’s relatively easy to find a complete set of steering knuckles, calipers, and rotors in a salvage yard. Then requires a longer flexible hose to connect to the factory brake lines. Most people seem to feel this provides a significant upgrade in braking performance.
