Opti Replacement??

When I drive my car I can feel it "lurch" especially when I give it a little gas I know it's missing a little. Do you think my opti should be replaced? I've been driving it atleast 2k miles and hasn't seemed to get any better or worse and when I hooked it up to the computer it said it was ok to drive. If you think it is my opti what kind should I get I don't ever want to replace it again performance is a big thing for me but only if it's worth it. Also my car has 117,000 miles on it.

It actually said that? I don't think so.

If its misfiring, you should have a flashing SES light, and as a minimum P0300. A scanner with "enhanced" parameters will allow you to access the misfire count by individual cylinder, which might help you pin it down as to cause.

There are too many possibilities to just start dumping money into expensive replacement parts like the Opti. Problems with ignition - wires, plugs (when were they changed last?), IC Module, coil, wire harness, Opti. Problems with the fuel system - injectors, fuel pump fuel filter, FPR. Problems with sensors.... the list goes on.

Re: Opti Replacement??

yes it actually said that and i hooked it up at school and i got the misfire count and everything it was missing most on cyl. 7 i believe and another cyl missed once in a while and the other missed somewhere in between the other two I just changed plugs wires on it and was told with 117k on the motor it was likely the opti needed to be changed out. As for the flashing SES light I've never seen that before which light are you talking about I used to have the traction light on and the one next to it but it hasn't come on in a long time

Re: Opti Replacement??

Well, OK... if you've got a computer that tells you it "ok to drive", you're way beyond my ability to help any.

Re: Opti Replacement??

I was just reading what was on the screen at the time I did the misfire count and then it had the words "ok to drive" but it still didnt say what was causing the missfire. Also I put my LT's on my car during the winter while it was stored and when I took it out thats when this crap started happening.

Re: Opti Replacement??

I'd check the wires again, just to be sure.
