some n00b q's

I see a lot of people on here always discussing cams and heads. what im wondering is, when you guys throw around part numbers like GM847 for a cam or LE2 heads, are these specific to a certain company or source? is there somewhere i could go for more info on this? sorry if these are lame questions.

Yeah, it is just terminology to specific vendors that is thrown out there. The GM 847 is just a specific cam grind. LE2 refers to heads that are ported by Lloyd Elliot, a pretty popular vendor on this forum. He also has LE1 and LE3 heads, they are more or less stages if you want to call them that.

Interesting, it says it's not for use with computer-controlled engines, and yet it's fine for any 305-350 up to 1999. What 305-350" engine was there in 1999 that wasn't computer controlled?
