trouble starting

Ran into a couple problems. 1st my map sensor connector was broken. Replaced that. 2nd temperature sending unit sensor also broke. Don't know how, but also replaced that. And now my car doesn't want to stay on. It will stay on for about a second then die out. Before that she ran great no problems at all. Once I replaced those parts she started acting up. Also before it started giving me problems it sounded as in it was sucking in a lot of air then that's when the dying out problem started happening? Any ideas to what could be the problem?

Re: trouble starting

Two problems here:

1) You didn't even mention what kind of vehicle this is. Probably a '95 Z28, but still...

2) This is the OFF-TOPIC lounge....

Re: trouble starting

Now that it's moved:

Are you sure you got the MAP sensor pigtail wires connected to the correct harness wires?

Which coolant temp sensor did you change - the one in the water pump housing for the PCM (2-wire sensor), or the one in the driver side head for the gauge (1-wire sensor)? Did you get the correct sensor?

Shoebox has the info for the PCM wiring on a 95. Here's the page for the MAP sensor and the coolant temp sensor in the water pump housing:

Best thing to do would be to scan it for codes. Here's a link to free 94/95 scanning software:

I'm in a lt1 forum and my name is 95z28 so put two and two together and you get the type of car.

Yes I connected the map sensor wires correctly. I replaced both coolant sensors, the one under the water pump and the one on the driver side of block which is the sending unit for the gauge! I have both obd1 and obd2 scanners and neither one give me any codes.

Just so you know, there are tons of people with screen names that don't match what they currently have or are working on or asking about, so it is not uncommon to need this information. That is why there is a "You need a signature" sticky at the top of the forum. It is a courtesy to provide this info and only helps you get help. Lots of people will ignore a post if there is no car info, because they think if the poster was serious about wanting help, he would have provided it.

The temp sensor in the head only drives the gauge, so it will not have any effect on the engine running. The one in the water pump (which is for the PCM), it could effect how the engine runs. Often, parts houses give out wrong sensor for these and/or they don't work right. The correct ACDelco ones seem to be the best bet.

Observation of operating parameters might help lead you to a fix.
